Lois Dodd

Postmark: April 29, 1961

Dear Len & Mimi,

All in one week Dorothy gave birth (a girl), Philip’s show opened at Frumkin and he had a small fire in his studio. He plugged in a stove to cook some glue. The outlet got too hot & flared up after a while. He put it out with water but thought he’d get a fireman to check it. Within minutes fire trucks filled 10th St. They slopped around in his spilled glue & then left. What a time for a conflagration what with artists being thrown out of lofts and all.

We tentatively shall schedule your show for Jan or Feb, however if later in spring turns out to be better for you we can change the dates later.

Hope this catches you at the Academy & you haven’t left. When are you leaving? What final trips will you take?

Give my best to Begley’s.

Lois

My show closes tomorrow. I sold one painting but altogether this has been a very poor year for sales or even enthusiasm.
